Accessibility

Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District (JVWCD) is committed to making our websites and applications broadly accessible, including for those with varying impairments. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and apply the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards to our web presence.

Our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard.

To ensure meaningful access and provide effective communication to persons with disabilities, JVWCD has made efforts to address the following topics with default settings in our website code:

Headings, Text

  • Content is structured logically using HTML code, to help with use of screen readers.
  • Text by default is large enough and has the right contrast to be legible.
  • Text is in plain language that is understandable at an 8th grade level.

Color

  • Contrast requirements are met for all text, and elements on the layout of the site.
  • Color is not the only method used to convey meaning for a specific interaction or information.

Images

  • Text that overlaps images maintains contrast requirements for legibility purposes.

Forms

  • All form elements have a descriptive label.
  • Elements are both visibly noticeable and announced by screen readers when they have focus.

Browser Zooming

  • When the user zooms in on a page, the content and elements on a page are resized and reoriented appropriately.
  • Text remains legible after browser zooming functions.
